The big news today is the public presentation of the new Tesla Model 3 and the start to pre-orders. The price of the car was announced to start at 35.000 USD and first deliveries will take place at the end of 2017. The car can drive 350 km per charge and can reach 100 kmph in 6 seconds. But if you live in Central and Eastern Europe, where can you go to order one?
Of course you can reserve online and you can do this, from any country in the region. The reservation is 1000 Euro and you can pay with your credit card. However, the closest Tesla showroom in the region is in Wien, Austria and we went there so you don’t have to. Here, the reservations started on the March 31st. There was no waiting line, but the first customer was there at 5.30 in the morning and there were several other reservations.
Even today, the showroom was full all day and there were several people reserving their cars. It’s important to note that the price for Europe is not announced yet and it will only be disclosed before the deliveries will start. Considering that the US prices does not have VAT and there are additional expenses to ship cars to Europe, the price of the new Tesla Model 3 in Europe will be between 40.000 and 45.000 Euro, in our opinion, before deducting various government incentives for electric vehicles.
What if you want to charge you car? Well, there are supercharging stations in Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia and there are plans to install such stations in Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary. Obviously, the necessary infrastructure will be too small in the near future. This superchargers can get your battery full in about 30 minutes, but you can use any power outlet, the only difference is the necessary time to charge.
